If you have looked at any Ontap collector in DII in the last few weeks, you will have seen on its collector page that you now see a poll audit trail history for "Logs". We have been pulling "EMS" log messages into DII for awhile, but not in the most elegant fashion - we used to do that as part of our performance polls.
Last spring, we developed the architectural capability to introduce more "packages" for data collectors - and we used this as we enhanced our Vmware collector to have Logs and Vendor Specific metrics capabilities.
We are now taking advantage of these architectural enhancements with collector enhancements in our Ontap collectors - by breaking out "Logs" into its own isolated package, we dramatically reduce the risk that performance gathering interferes with logs gathering, and vice versa.
So, no DII user should see anything functionally different - we are doing the same things at the same frequency as before, but we are just increasing our reliability while also improving the end user experience in that we can now show log poll failures discretely.
Logs functionality is still enabled by default on all existing and newly created collectors - again, we don't think anyone should notice any difference
