Hi,

One of my partners is asking the following question regarding restores with SMO:

Can an smo restore work, if any part of the directory hierarchy has been deleted ?

Do we need to re-create the missing hierarchy ?

For example:

The TST640_1 was removed as a test for restore:

Failure in ExecuteRestoreSteps: K:\ORACLE\TST\SAPDATA1\TST640_1\TST640.DATA1 (The system cannot find the path specified)

I suspect if I were to re-create the directory the restor would work.

Hi,

This happens, because host-side restore is being used - recreation of directory structure should do the trick.

Another option is to use storage-side restore, where the volume is rolled back, so having directories in place is totally irrelevant.

Radek
