SME snapinfo directories taking up too much space - can I just manually delete them?

Hi,

What is the purpose of all the truncated transactional logs kept in the snapinfo directory? I understand their purpose is to allow up-to-the-minute restores of backups.

Our path is : Z:\sme_snapinfo\EXCH__EXCHANGE1\SG__Exchange1

These directories in the snapinfo directory are taking up too much space in our system.

We have 60 days of backups that I've taken all with up-to-the-minute option checked off.

If I now only want up-to-the-minute restore capibility for the last 15 days and point-in-time (instead of up-to-the-minute) restores for the 45 days after that, can I simply delete these older than 15 day snapinfo directories within Windows Exploer?

Thanks,

Dean

Hi,

Since you have not gotten an answer, you may want to ask this question in the NetApp Support Community.  The current customers, partners and internal Subject Matter Experts are addressing technical product questions there.
