Good afternoon, we are trying to upgrade several instances of Snapcenter Server 5.0 to 6.1P1 and do a clean install of 6.1P1 on a new server. we keep running into the following error message: 'Package SMCoreError: Service 'Snapcenter SMCore Service" failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services'. the server we are installing on is Windows Server 2022.

we have installed the MS .net requirements and are in the administrators group so i know its not a privileges issue. Has anyone run into this and come up with a resolution? there is a kb i found but following this we are still getting the same msg during installation.

Hi Dave

What version of .NET do you have currently? .NET 9.0 is not supported with SnapCenter 6.0 or 6.1 versions (including P releases).

We recommend opening a support case as it would require  log analysis and further troubleshooting

Regards

hello:

The upgrade failed. You should clean up the failed installation, reinstall an earlier version of SnapCenter, and then restore the NSM database to its previous state,This link is hoped to be helpful to you

https://docs.netapp.com/us-en/snapcenter/upgrade/task_upgrade_snapcenter.html

Hope everything goes well

Best regards.

So we validated that with SC exchange server dotnet hosting bundle 8.0.15, powershell 7.4.2, and jdk 11.0.26. have to be installed for the SCE server to install properly. after we installed these applications and reran the SCE server install, it completed successfully.
