Can anyone advice wether there is still an ability to select particular HDDs for creating Volume Group like it was at E2700 series?

Unfortunately, that functionality is no longer in the GUI. You can script it though using SMcli. I'm attaching a sample script.

The ONTAP maximum file limits is lesser than the maximum possible number of files supported by ONTAP for a volume. This video explains the reason why ONTAP has this lower limit on the file count.
