telnet to the filer and use 'passwd' command. It will ask for the login and new password.

If you've forgotten the password you can reset the password but it requires system downtime. Instructions are here:

As above netapp article,,, but is the filer on an AD domain??? If it is the try logging in as a Domain admin.... If you get logged in the you can change to root password from there...

If not its ctrl + c on start up and select option 3...
