No root volume, can't recognize disks

I have an old FAS250 that has 7 144GB drives in it. When trying to boot this device, it says it cannot recognize any of the disks, and obviously no root volume. It shows DOT 7.0.0.1. Any idea what is happening or how I can upgrade this ONTAP version. The only connection I have to this device is via the console.

Thanks

I have experience with pre-owned FAS2XXs. Did this one come from the NetApp bone yard or from Ebay ?

The Data ONTAP version you're seeing is from the current kernel loaded in flash.

It's probable that the disks installed are not from a running install.

You can press 'Ctrl-C' while the kernel is booting to access the boot menu.

Then try option 4a on the menu to attempt to zero out the disk drives and install a new flexible root volume.

This process may fail if the disks had previous software ownership assigned.

If so, you can re-boot and access the boot menu again.

This time enter '22/7' at the boot menu prompt to access the maintenance mode boot menu.

There are options to unassign/reassign the disk drives available.

You'll need access to the NOW.NetApp.com site to download a new copy of Data ONTAP to install on this box.

I hope this response has been helpful to you.
