S3 support on MetroCluter Systems

Hello!

Does anyone know about future support for S3 (object store server) on ONTAP systems running in a MetroCluster configuration?

I know that today this is not supported (S3 on MetroCluster).

Moreover, what would be the technical aspects of not supporting is right away?

Hi there, 

As a forward looking question we would not be able to answer this publicly.

I encourage you to discuss this with your NetApp representative and ask for a NDA roadmap session to see if this is covered.

Regarding not currently supporting it - the notes I've seen suggest it's basically since it's an application serving data rather a file system being served by a protocol that is already implemented inside Metrocluster protection.
