Running a FAS270 with OnTap 7.2.3 with Oracle Linux 5
We have Oracle Linux 5 servers pointing to the NAS device, each to their own respective volumes on the same aggregate. Server 1 can access it's .snapshot directory, but server 2 cannot. Server 2 can see the .snapshot folder but when it attempts to access it it says, "The folder contents cannot be displayed". The permissions are 777 on the .snapshot directory, so I don't think that's the issue. Snapshots are still occurring and I can access the volumes other directories just fine. Ideas or suggestions?
Thanks!

I saw something very similar after upgrading our linux servers to Red Hat 5.8. When booting with 5.7, can access all directories and files in the .snapshot directory. Not sure if this is related.

Can you explicitly mount …/.snapshot directory or any snapshot inside?

Good idea! I can explicitly mount the .snapshot directory. I can access the hourly.0, hourly.1, etc folders. I cannot access the folders under that though that contain data. I can explicitly mount the folders inside hourly.0 as well, but I am unable to access the contents - "The folder contents cannot be displayed".

The only idea that I had was related to FSID, which may be different between AFS and snapshots. What NFS version are you using – NFS v3 or NFS v4?
Does any of these KB help?

I think you might be on to something. Our RH 4 servers are the only ones having this issue. Our Oracle Linux 5 (aka RH5) are not. We upgraded to Oracle Linux 5 from RH 4 and the problem has been resolved.
