Good Afternoon, I realized today that my management LIFs/ports are residing in the same VLAN as my Data LIFs/ports. My use case isn't ideal - unfortunately I only have one switch to use for my Data network and my Management Network (cluster network is internal to the system, only two node AFF-A150). My initial desire was to create a VLAN on the switch/NetApp in order to at least segregate the management/data traffic if I am forced to use the same switch, however I have read some documentation saying that "e0M ports are not compatible with VLANs". I am looking for some clarification regarding e0M ports and the corresponding switch interfaces that they connect to. I found one KB article that somewhat goes into this although I am looking for "best practice" on how to configure the switch interface that e0M is facing. Looking on my existing systems, these ports are all configured as "switchport access vlan X" however are lacking "switchport mode access" and do not have "switchport mode trunk" configured either. My networking knowledge is limited, but to my knowledge the interface would need that "switchport mode access" in order to be "turned on" as an access port, so I'm not sure there is any VLAN frames even being sent across those connections currently. Additionally I don't have any e0M-X ports created that my management LIFs would sit on either. To make a long story short, is there any best practice switch configuration that is recommended for connecting to e0M ports?

Good Afternoon, Been looking through documentation and KB's but cannot find an answer to this seemingly simple question. Currently building out an AFF-A150 for a HW refresh of an AFF-A220 running NFS for a vCenter datastore. We have two ifgroups with vlan 30 (a0a-30) on each node, with e0c/e0d as apart of each a0a on each node. Each a0a-30 has a data LIF sitting on top of it. Pretty simple. I was reviewing the configuration of the AFF-A220 that we are replacing and realized that for some reason in the data broadcast domain, we had not only both a0a-30 ports but also both a0a ports. This is actually my first time building out a new system from scratch - is this something that is required when including a VLAN port sitting on top of an ifgroup to a failover group, including the underlying ifgroup as well? To me that doesn't make any sense, as a the data LIF, which is obviously running frames with a vlan 30 tag, could failover to an a0a port where the frames would then be dropped. Am I missing something here regarding how failover groups should be configured, or is my AFF-A220 misconfigured?

We are currently using netapp xml auditing and enabling SACLs using Windows Explorer Client to set SACL permissions for everyone read, write, delete etc. 1) When we apply this SACL to big fillers with millions of folders and files it has to apply this recursive and take lot of time and also fails on many folders because inheritance is broken and user doesnt have permission, etc etc. Is there any way to apply this much faster at the root level of the share/volume avoiding this errors, permissions, broken inheritance, time, and other common problems? does "vserver security file-directory ntfs sacl modify" has the same problem? is faster? 2) Does fpolicy auditing also requires setting this SACLs on all folders/files or just enable fpolicy? how you set what operations to audit? I know windows file server requires this and most storages based on windows, but applying SACLS for larger file server is always a problem.

Hi, we have a 2-node AFF-A250 running ontap 9.14.1. I'm experimenting with NVMe over TCP and have a question: how can you load balance namespaces between the 2 nodes? When creating a namespace it's creates the volume automatically and chooses the aggregate by itself. How can you ensure that the NVMe namespace load is evenly distributed between the 2 nodes in the cluster?

Hello everyone! We have encountered the following problem. We have a Storage E2724, which is now End of Life. We used it in production a couple of years ago, configured as FC. We decided to use it for our backup infrastructure, but we need to switch it to iSCSI mode. As we understand, this is done by activating the Feature Pack. We need to request a key from NetApp support and connect it. Unfortunately, we no longer have support since the storage is End of Life. We found that the controllers have an SMID of 214, and this value needs to be changed to SMID 250. Is there any way to do this? (via telnet, management, etc.)
