All flash (SSD) Volume for NFS on FAS2520

Hi Experts!

I have a FAS2520 Cluster with 2 controllers, and 3 disk shelves, 1 x DS224C, 2x DS212C, 24x960GB SSD, 24x6TB NLSAS.

The main DS212C box contains 12x2TB NLSAS right now. Disk shelves are not yet used, configured.

We are using it as NFS (NAS).

Is it possible to create a 14x960GB SSD all flash volume and the rest of the SSD would go to an other Volume as cache?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, that's possible.

Just create an aggregate for the 14 SSDs, keep one for spare.

The remaining 9 can be used for a storage pool.

If you are running Ontap 9.7 you can do this in the GUI. Ontap 9.8 has no support to configure this in the GUI, then you need to use the CLI. In Ontap 9.12 the GUI can do this again (but your FAS2554 supports only up to Ontap 9.8).

The SSD pool is divided into 4 equal parts. The you can decide how many of this 4 parts you want to add to an aggregate for flash-pool-cache.

Be aware, that the SSDs in a flashpool aggregate cannot be removed from the aggregate anymore once its added. It does not increase the aggregates capacity.

Details can be found here:
