Hi Techies I am planning to migrate all the luns and volumes from my legacy 7-mode systems to new cluster mode systems. But my 7-mode system is running on very older ontap version and also it has 32-bit aggregates. Can you guys please let me know how to proceed with it. Please find the details below.
7-mode ontap version : 7.3.2
7-mode box model : FAS3020
c-mode ontap version : 8.3.1
c-mode box model : FAS8040
Do i need to upgrade the 7-mode ontap version to 8.1.4 + to perform this conversion of 32-bit aggregates to 64-bit?

A FAS3020 can't run anything newer than 7.3.7. Foreign Lun Import could bring the LUNs over without requiring the 64bit conversion on the source. Other options include host/application based migrations (Storage vMotion, etc) or doing an intermediate headswap to a controller that can run 8.1.4P4.
