Hi All,
We have a recurring message on the syslogs: recovered error on disk (this occur on about 8 storage disk - one at a time)
Any inputs would be much appreciated.
Message:
Recovered error on disk 0a.11.1: op 0x2a:68cb7db0:0008 sector 255 SCSI:recovered error - Disk used internal retry algorithm to obtain data (1 b 96 96) (12) [NETAPP X423_HCOBE900A10 NA01] S/N [KPWV9UJR] |
System: FAS3250 - 8.2.4 7 mode

However, looking at the Disk Model from your error description, there is a firmware 'NA02' available for this disk model. Hence, I would suggest to upgrade the disk firmware for this disk model X423_HCOBE900A10 --> go to NA02 and also get your data ontap up to the latest version (minimum recommended).
The NA02 drive firmware release for the HCOBE*A10 disk drive product contains the
following updates and improvements:
- Improvements in predictive failure algorithms to identify impending failures more accurately.
- Improvements in initial system setup to detect problematic disks.
- Improvements in Post SMART Trip to enhance write reliability.
Also, upgrade the Data ontap to - 8.2.5P5 (Which contains NA02 firmware)

Hi,
Unfortunately, the storage filer already reached end-of-support (EOS). We are currently working for third party MA for the support and requesting for the replacement Disk.
Upgrading the Firmware is one of our last action Item due to the high risk of the upgrade on a live production.

Ok. Just do the disk firmware upgrade.
