Hello,

I am troubleshooting this issue since hours but I cannot find a cause or a solution to my problem.

Our FAS2040 has two controllers and 11 SATA  drives. Ontap 8.1.4P10 is running.

Ignore 0c.00.6, it is failed and has been removed

Currenty the FAS does not hold production data.

Strangely enough the disk LEDs of 0c.00.0 to 4 and 0c.00.10 and 11 are not illuminated but accessible by Controller B and its root is on 0, 1 and 2.

When using disk_list on Controller A  I can only see the following

disk_list
DISK CHAN VENDOR PRODUCT ID REV SERIAL# HW (BLOCKS BPS) DQ
------------ ----- -------- ---------------- ---- -------------------- -- -------------- --
0c.00.5 SA:A NETAPP X298_HSATE01TSSS A38G MS306DWF ff 1953525168 512 N

0c.00.9 SA:A NETAPP X298_WVULC01TSSS NA00 WD-WCAW31194734 ff 1953525168 512 N

On Controller B I can see all disks

Does anybody have an idea what´s going on here?

Thank you.

Regards.

As it is now 10 years old, I couldn't rule out part breakdown causing this issue. Have you tried reseating the controller a number of times? If that doesn't fix it, I would suggest trying moving dusks around while it is powered off to see if the error follows the drive or follows the slot. Then, I'd try to find another FAS2040 or FAS2020 (from memory the chassis is the same) and swapping the controllers and drives into it.
