Is there a method to completely "export" and recover a vserver?

Recently, we got a new MetroCluster but due to some limitations not all hardware was delivered from the beginning.

So, we started some tests with the available hardware, created aggregates, volumes, vservers and so on.

Now, the rest of the hardware (shelves and disks) arrived and we would like to start fresh.

Meaning, deleting all volumes and aggregates and build them anew.

But, we would like to keep the vservers.

So, before destroying everything, is there a way to export the vserver configuration and use this for a later import/recover procedure?

There is no option to export a vserver configuration, but you can run the below command to list all the different settings/parameter set on a specific vserver:

cluster::> vserver show -vserver <> -instance

I believe you'll have to start "from scratch" when you deploy the MCC anyway.  

As far as the vserver goes, do you happen to have a 3rd cluster you could SVM-DR too?   You could potentially move it to there and then back.  But there's no way to "save" a vserver config.  

What is on the initial vserver that needs to be saved?

There is no 3rd cluster available, have to work with what we have.

Data on the inital vservers is not that much and can be moved to a different system.

So, we will gather all needed info and then start anew.

If you had another cluster and upgraded to 9.11.1 you should be to use svm-dr to copy the svm out. Then use the same process to bring it back. Ping that release Metro Cluster May be used as a source or destination endpoint for svm-dr
