Make cDOT 8.3 working with NIS containing entries with more than 1024 characters

Hi,

FAS8040 cluster running cDOT 8.3

I am trying to make one of my SVMs to use NIS as the name service. The NIS server has group map file containing some lines longer than 1024 characters. The NIS is made with Makefile containing -no-limit-check so it can contain lines longer than 1024 characters. The issue is when I point the SVM to the NIS server, it will fail because the line length.

Is there anybody who knows how to have SVM to work with NIS map with line > 1024 characters?

Hi 

1024 is the maximum limit. Refer https://library.netapp.com/ecm/ecm_download_file/ECMP1610208 page 85.

If you plan to use NIS for directory searches, the maps in your NIS servers cannot have more than 1024 characters for each entry. Do not specify a NIS server that does not comply with this limit. Otherwise, client access dependent on NIS entries might fail.
