Migrating SVM to new metrocluster

Hi Friends,

we have new MetroCluster storage procured recently with ONTAP 9.7P3. When we start to migrate SVM from old FAS to new Metrocluster, we have seen no option to create SVM with "subtype=dp-destination". We are planning to migrate SVM through SVM DR. So what is the other option/procedure to migrate SVM to MetroCluster. Please help..

Hi Storage6,

Starting with ONTAP 9.3 XDP started to replace traditional DP and 9.4 is the new default sub-type. XDP is the newer faster DP. Please use sub-type XDP for your operation.

We can use Snapmirror type as XDP, however the destination SVM should be in "DP-Destination" type, right? So that we can

cut-over post copy completed. Or do we need to break the Metrocluster connection?

Did you manage to do that using SVM DR? Because it shouldn't...

From the ONTAP docs, "A MetroCluster configuration cannot be the destination of an SVM DR relationship."
