Moving Link Aggregate to a new switch.

FAS2650 - Ontap 9.8P6

Last night we tried to move our Test Box from one network switch to another, moving one Link Aggr at a time and failing the workload to the other link.

All the switch configuration looked good and we proceeded with the first migration. unplugging rom the old switch and plugging in the new one.  But the aggregate did not come up on the switch.

We looked around for a little while but it was getting late so we migrated back to the old switch.

It was getting late and we were already off plan from our Change control so we backed out.

Checking everything this morning  all the configs still seem sound.

In the event log though I see this when we swapped to the new switch.

pvif.lacp.outofsync: ifgrp a0a, port e0f cannot synchronize with the LACP aggregate.

I have checked online and the solutions say Contact Support... I thought I would check here before going to my third party.

Should I shut down the Aggregation before unplugging, is there a way to clear SYNC?

Thanks in advance..

LACP is a negotiated aggregated link so unless the 2 switch are joined together as a single virtual unit it's probably normal that it will not work.

i'm not netapp specialist but probably changing the type to something like fail over without aggregation move to new switch and change back ...(less band with during the transition and not sure how fast the change/interruption would be)

This is moving an entire LACP from one switch to another, I know you can't home different ports on different switches.

Cheers
