Does name mapping work if I don't mention mixed type  security style ?

As per the 'Consideration 3' in the following Kb, yes it will work.

To be honest, User-mapping can work perfectly well without any entries in the vServer name-mapping tables "provided both Windows and UNIX user names match". Then mapping will be transparent as default user mapping will be leveraged.
