NetApp Ontap Simulator: general disk questions

I've just installed vSim 9.10.1 and, having expanded the root volume to 5GB by adding 5 disks to it, would like to delete any unused disks and replace them with 9GB ones.

So I'm trying to get my head around how the simulator  works with disks - both virtually, and with the 4 "drives" that VMWare is giving it.

i) Why is VMWare configured to give the vSim 4 disks? Are these related to the "shelves"?

ii) What is the relationship between the disks as shown by the storage disk show command:
Usable Disk Container Container

How do I delete the unwanted disks so I can create new, larger ones?

Simulate_ONTAP_9.10.1_Installation_and_Setup_Guide.pdf in the simulator download page, covers some of the info you are looking for.

In short -The simulator image comes pre-configured with 28 x 1 GB disks; 14 each on simulated disk shelves 0 and 1. Simulated disk shelves 2 and 3 are not populated. You can configure up to a maximum of 220 GB total space for each Simulate ONTAP node.

You can add/populate 2 more shelf x 14 Disks to your Simulator in order to expand the root aggr0, and/or for creating data aggregate with desired 9GB disk.

i) Why is VMWare configured to give the vSim 4 disks? Are these related to the "shelves"?
Yes.

ii) What is the relationship between the disks as shown by the storage disk show command:

storage disk show = shows pre-assigned/populated disks which correspond to shelf 0 & 1

ls -al of the /sim/dev/,disks = available disk types that you could utilise for populating shelf 2 & 3 (maximum of 9 GB per simulated disk drive)

Thanks. Couple more questions!

i) With regards to the VMWare disks and the shelves, are these a one-to-one mapping? ie, does Ontap shelf 0 correspond to the VMWare first disk, Ontap shelf 1 to VMWare 2nd disk, etc?

ii) WRT "pre-assigned/populated disks" such as:
NET-1.13 - - 29 FCAL unassigned - -
NET-1.14 1.97GB - 16 FCAL broken - NetApp_9-10-01
and the listings in /sim/dev/,disks such as:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 2159272960 Sep 21 16:11 v0.16:NETAPP__:VD-2000MB-FZ-520:13513500:4152448

is there a way to know what corresponds to what? There are 28 of "VOL1-nn" entries (where "nn" is sequential 1 through 28) whereas the v0.nn and v1.nn entries seem kinda random; they start at 16 and there are no 23, 29-31 entries for example. Are some not being listed by ls -al for some reason?

What I'd like to do is remove the unused disks and recreate them using larger disk types so I can have more storage space, but I can't see how to determine which of the v0.nn & v1.nn entries aren't being used.
