Netapp snapmirror Active (business continuty )

hello to all.

ı created a demo environment in my lab with 2 netapp and 2 vmware hosts, the hosts are ISCSI connected to the netapp devices.And created a mediator in 3rd location , and tried to evaluate the disaster scenarios  for Netapp Business Continuity.

basic tests are OK, but when it comes to a hard one, the system is stuck (or i am stuck 🙂   )

test is as, the mediator  had been down, and after that ,the source netapp is down.

while this happens ,the vms go down, and ISCS luns are deatteched from the ESXi hosts.

In recovery scenarios, it says unmap luns ,delete ConsistecnyGroup and delete Snapmirror relationship ,but i cannot do any of them ,since both the mediator and source netapp is down.

And i cannot power on the vms.

what must i do ??, i tried to get in diag mode, and used some commands with -force parameter but didn worked

Are you referring to the scenario "Link between Site B and ONTAP Mediator down and Site A down" here Link between Site B and ONTAP Mediator down and Site A down ?

- Can you provide some CLI output?

- Did you manage to unmap all LUNs belonging to the consistency group from "Site B"

ı had followed the link previously:But if the mediator is down and also if the A site netapp is down, then i cannot do anyting on the B site netapp, if i can bring the old mediator online again , i can follow the guide .

this is what i had found yet, still investigating.

Yesterday , i had followed the link, (with mediator online ) ,and successfully can bring the destination luns online, and booted up the virtual machines, but its not an easy process, (the luns mapped again ,esx had didint bring the luns online automatically, i had to do the add storage,and use the same signature procedure for vmware  to add datastore )

yet still,  cannot do the reverse sync (after the A netapp is up again ,and reverse SYNC)

I cannot follow where you are having issues without details of what is failing and where.

Assuming you are a NetApp customer or partner have you been through the Lab on Demand    Business Continuity for Virtualized SAN Workloads | Lab On Demand

This has a full lab with guide and would be best to work through though I understand it does not have a mediator down and site down scenario.
