I'm facing this issue:
I have my ONTAP 8.1 simulator to which I created an OSSV relation to a primary system (windows server 2008R2)
I have put all required licenses and was able to to snapvault correctly.
My issue is on the snapvault restore.
I followed the syntax and tried to do a restore to a directory I created in the C drive (I even tried to an F drive but no luck
Everytime I'm getting the following error:
reply indicated error: (7) Allow
Restore Operation Failed
Error performing restore...
I am able to connect to the snapvault (i mean storage) in the restore process but failed due probably to permissions.
I tried to add the windows user to the storage and tried again but no luck
additional info. the options snapvault.access has the ip of the windows machine already.
Is there any other options left to get the restore to complete successfully?
Can you send me the ossvinfo log:
To generate ossvinfo log, run this on primary:
C:\Program Files\netapp\snapvault\bin>OSSVINFO.exe -s filer -l username:password ossvinfo
ossvinfo directory will get created in the same path:
C:\Program Files\netapp\snapvault\bin
For now,
Verify network connectivity between host and filer is operating properly.
filer> ping <host ip/name>
host> ping <filer ip/name>
On the secondary filer:
Change it from IP to all:
filer>options snapvault.access all
Run the restore again.
Hi Ashwin,
Thanks for the reply
I tried to generate the OSSV log but i keep getting the following error:
ERROR: Cannot create output directory ossvinfo.
I made sure to put right credentials but it won't generate
(I'm at the right structure in the bin file)
For the network connectivity, I tried already and they are able to intercommunicate (through ping).
I also tried the options snapvault.access to all before trying the restore process but no luck
anyway I retried again but same
Hi,
Can I see the syntax you are using to generate log. (Run the command prompt as administrator)
Also, within the bin folder, try to run this exe 'svinstallcheck' , and let me know the output.
Also,
On the primary (win2k28r2) 'Turn-off' firewall, try restoring again. Send me the ossvinfo, if you do manage to generate.
Here is the OSSVINFO as requested

and for the netstat run as admin:
In the picture, the last line display first the IP of the windows machine and the second ip of VSIM
the line before last display the IP of windows machine
This is what I read in the log:
Denied: Secondary 'WIN-SNAP' is not on primary access list
What is this hidden IP?
hidden - IP of VSIM1
send me the output of :
filer> options snapvault.access
On WIN-SNAP: Start | Ossv configurator | snapvault tab
the ip was hidden to my discretion but the generated output displayed the right ips.
I just figured out what the issue was.
My machine wasn't in my domain so that's the reason it did'nt want to restore
Thank you for your support and your advice Ashwin
No problem. You're welcome!
I already tried with firewall off but still no luck
