Try to download patch for Ontap Simulator 9.12, get "Unauthorized Access!" error

I've managed to get the vsim-netapp-DOT9.12.1-cm_nodar.ova up and running on ESXi 7.0u3, but when I try to log into a CIFS share I get the "NTLM authentication fails due to enforcement of Netlogon RPC sealing (Microsoft CVE-2022-38023)" error.

This page:

https://kb.netapp.com/Support_Bulletins/Customer_Bulletins/SU530

tells me to patch it (I won't ask why NetApp haven't updated their vSim ova download) but when I click on the patch link:

https://mysupport.netapp.com/site/products/all/details/ontap9/downloads-tab/download/62286/9.12.1P7

I get the following error:

Unauthorized Access!
If you would like to purchase, please contact NetApp
If you believe you have the right entitlements, please Open a Case
(and yes, I'm logged in). I can't be the only Ontap simulator user who's had this problem; what's the solution??

Yes, you need a valid support account to download NetApp ONTAP Storage OS and patches or any other NetApp products/applications/softwares. There is no 'separate' patches for Simulator Builds. There is only production ONTAP/patches for download (like the one you posted). Same Production Patches are also applicable to Simulator Builds,  in other words you can patch the Simulator using the Production patches, and hence you need a valid support account.

I am able to download via the link you have posted. It must be something to do with your support account. If you are a NetApp customer/partner and have a valid support account, you should be able to download.

Also note - If it's a newly created support account, then you might have to wait 24 to 48 hrs for the access enablement.

Please open a Non-technical case though the support portal

Thanks for the reply.

I'm unsure what you mean by a "support account". I'm not using the simulator in any production capacity but for study and development purposes.

I created an account and downloaded the simulator without any issues; do I need to pay NetApp for "support" to download a patch that fixes the simulator's broken CIFS authentication?

Also - can you tell me how big the patch is please?

Thanks.
