So last week was due to upgrade ONTAP from 9.11.1P10 to 9.15.1P12. Change in place, all pre reqs from our upgrade plan pretty much ironed out and we come to the time to hit the button - but before that I hit the Validate button just incase. And it throws a upgrade stopper at us. Around 130 volumes with snapmirrors were legacy and configured with DP only. So i've been through the NetApp documentation and deleted / re-created snapmirrors with the new XDP format. I'm now left with Volumes that are protected with SVM-DR (About 50 volumes in total across 8-10 SVMs). I've been looking around on NetApp and come across this one - How to convert existing SVM-DR relationship from DP to XDP - NetApp Knowledge Base This seems relatively simple. Is this document correct and will get us to where i need to be where everything is XDP. Can this be done at any point with no disruption to clients? Any steps or guidance / things to be aware of would be fantastic. Once this is done i can get ONTAP upgraded.

Hi All, i've been preparing for an ONTAP upgrade recently from 9.11.1P10 up to 9.15.1P12. I've got a report from ActiveIQ and as a warning it states that "Encryption Keys are not in sync for all nodes". It also links me to the following article - ONTAP Upgrade Advisor Plan: Validate encryption keys are in sync for all nodes - NetApp Knowledge Base Now i believe that from a disk level we don't have encryption enabled but we do at volume level. When looking in the cluster settings I can see this just wondered if anyone could give us any info on this warning we are getting and will it stop the upgrade? When running the commands in the article its coming back as though there is no problem.

I've recently been researching whether I can use automation methods in ONTAP. I found that ONTAP can use NGSH. But I failed to define variables or create loops. Can it use these functions like FreeBSD? Or can I use shell scripts to do what I want?

Hello Netapp World, I need you collective help regarding a Root Volume Recovery process. We have a bit old FAS8200, 9.3P1 that was powered off for a while. Recently it was powered on but neither of the 2 nodes in the HA can boot. After the replacement of node1, we had to fix a System ID and version missmatch and after a netboot, node 1 managed to boot normally. node2 still remains down and as it seems with a missing root volume. I have already tried a Netboot install (option 7 from boot menu) , tried restoring from backup (opt 6) after the netboot install via an http server, the node informs at boot menu that "boot device has been changed, Normal Boot is prohibited" Stuck at this situation as volume options during maintenance menu are not available - therefore i cannot create the root while the node is down and so far I have strictly avoided Option 4(wipe disk data/config). I was wondering if i would be able to remove node2 from the cluster by breaking the ha and removing the ha interconnect. then try a clean install on the node2 again. Yet, I am concerned about the data disks and causing another system ID and disk ownership missmatch.
