retrieve volume properties/settings from a config backup?

Hi All,

We're looking at a DR test where we would delete a volume, recreate it and restore its contents from backup.

We will need information about the volume properties/settings/etc.

This is presumably somewhere in the nightly .7z config backup we keep but I've tried extracting that mess and can't find anything.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Randy

If I understand correctly, your trying to restore a volume from config backup.  You can't restore a volume from config backup. It (config backup) is for cluster configuration backup not the hosted data. To restore the volume you will need snap from snapmirror/snapvault site as per your configuration. When you delete the volume on prod site you will lose the snaps also. Hope that explains.

What I'm asking is if there's a way to extract the volume properties from a 7z config backup. We would be recreating the volume with its original properties and restoring its contents from an offsite backup using a third party backup product.
