Hello,

We have 4 node cluster of

8060 - 2 node ssd drives.

8020 - 2 node hynbrid sas an NL-sas drives.

we want to split cluster one - 8060 and second 8020. Already migrated data.  Existing version is 9.1p18.

First we should upgrade and then split. Newer version has remove-nodes command.

What are the steps or procedure to split. After removing 8020 from existing cluster should i reconfigure 8020 nodes or how i will access 8020 cluster.

Upgrading ONTAP is a good idea. 9.1 went EOVS a while ago,

For 9.1-9.3, you would use the cluster unjoin command.

https://docs.netapp.com/us-en/ontap-cli-93/cluster-unjoin.html

I assume you plan to leave the 8080 in the existing cluster and unjoin the 8020 from it.

Follow this document to ensure a successful removal:

https://docs.netapp.com/us-en/ontap/system-admin/remov-nodes-cluster-concept.html

Reinitialize the 8020 to set it up as a new 2-node cluster.
