Disk firmware upgrade and new disk qualification package

An email from NEtApp advised to urgently upgrade firmware on 300 gb, 600gb, 900 gb 15K RPM SASA drives (from Seagate). This email came in September, yet the latest Disk Qualification Package is dated 05/2014. It appears there is no need to match firmware levels for disks in Disk Qualification Package with new firmware levels .

It is all depend on your HW/current release of Ontap. You can check the /etc/qual_devices_v3 of your system to determine the date of the file.

Determining the version of Disk Qualification Package files you have for Data ONTAP releases 7.3 and later

To determine the version of Disk Qualification Package files that you have on your system, enter the following command:

toaster> rdfile /etc/qual_devices_v3
