FAS2020 Basic question

Hi everyone and sorry for the lame question.

I'm relatively new to storaging, and have been assigned with the task to manage a FAS2020 storage. While documenting it I've come to the following questions:

  1. In case of one of the controllers fail, what might be the impact? Will the other controller be able to see the disks?
  2. If not, is it possible that there might be data loss?
  3. In case of replacement necessity of one of the controllers, will the new controller inherit the configuration, or should I keep a backup(if possible) of the controller's configuration?
  4. Lastly, does the NETAPP website provide this information available, or only through training?

Thanks in advance,

Nuno Silva

Hi,

Configuring storage in an HA pair provides the following benefits,

Fault tolerance:
When a node fails or becomes impaired a takeover occurs and the partner node continues to serve the failed node's data.

Nondisruptive software upgrades:
When you halt one node and allow takeover, the partner node continues to serve data for the halted node while you upgrade the node you halted.

Nondisruptive hardware maintenance:
When you halt one node and allow takeover, the partner node continues to serve data for the halted node while you replace or repair hardware in the node you halted.

For FAS 2020 documentation refer below links,

Thanks
