Hi,

The main purpose of FIBS140-2 certification is basically security/ Encryption.

For security-conscious organizations, the best way to avoid exposing sensitive residual customer data is deploying a properly configured NetApp DataFort. The DataFort ensures that any remaining data in non-volatile memory components will be encrypted at the following certified levels:

  • Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 140-2 Level 3 Certification
  • National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Encryption Certifications
  • Department of Defense (DoD) 5015.2 Certification
  • MDY-NetApp-Decru
  • IBM-NetApp-Decru
  • France: DCSSI Authorization for Cryptographic Module (Central Information Systems Security Division)
