ONTAP Hardware
Hi,
I am having 3240 FAS, How many disk shelves can I group in to single Aggregate
Hi and welcome to the Community!
It depends on:
- ONTAP version - prior to 8 there is a limit of 16TB (usable) size; in 8.x you can have aggregates bigger than 16TB & the limit for 3240 is 50TB (usable)
- disk size
Regards,
Radek
Hi Radek Kubka,
Thanks for ur reply,
Is there any limit on number of disk shelves that can be added on to aggregate or it's only size limit
It's only the size limit - with large enough aggregate it can possibly span multiple back-end FC loops, or SAS stacks.
The ONTAP maximum file limits is lesser than the maximum possible number of files supported by ONTAP for a volume. This video explains the reason why ONTAP has this lower limit on the file count.
Here’s a quick tutorial on how to check system information on the NetApp Support Site.
Learn to correct an error message when ONTAP reports that a volume is out of inodes because it has reached the maximum files.
