How to do a Cold and Hot Backup on LUNs

Hi All,

I have some doubts related to Backups for Oracle.

1. I am using a Solaris 10 and I have Zones (Virtual Machines) are mapped on Netapp Storage FAS3040 RS

2.On the LUN are installed Oracle Server my question is?

How can I make a Cold and Hot Backup for its Database?

Hi welcome to the community.

Sorry we are a MS shop here but the NetApp technology (WAFL - Snapdrive - Snapmanager) works great.  Every time we get a new DBA they always have their favorite way of doing backups and ask about changing the solution.  I now just ask the question "Can your solution restore 500 Gb of SQL database in under 90 seconds, full process?"  NetApp can do this so and they come around to the way we do things.
