Can you please help with the below request from one of our Partners?

"I need some clarification on additional FC cards for a FAS3240.

I know that the onboard FC ports can be used as either a Target or as an Initiator. If I purchase additional 2 Port or 4 Port FC cards am I right in saying that these cards will only have Target functionality?

Is it possible to purchase additional FC Initiator Cards?"

Yes, there are add-on FC imitator cards, e.g. X2054A-R6. It all is described in system configuration guides on NOW.

Hi Biescas,

the onboard ports are configurable, they can be either initiator or target.

The addon cards for a FAS3240 are fixed, either 4 port 4gbit initiator, 4 port 4gbit target or 2 port 8gbit target.

check with your local sales representative for the correct cards, numbers and if they fit into your system.
