Multipathing software for FAS2040

Hi,

question about multipathing SW for FAS2040 - can we use only Windows MPIO on Windows Server 2008 R2 host without DSM or Host Utilities?

Or is DSM compulsory?

And by the way, how are DSM and Host Utilities related? Can DSM replace Host Utilities or vice versa? Or is it necessary to use both packets together?

Danas,

you can choose between using Microsoft Windows MP I/O or using NetApp Data ONTAP DSM.

You MUST use Host Utilities in both cases tho! Host utils will install MS Windows MP I/O anyway, it just depends on you then to either use MS internal DSM or the NetApp DSM.

Host Utils are a must because they set HBA & Disk Timeouts to NetApp recommended values.
