ONTAP Hardware
ONTAP Hardware
Hi,
Earlier we had a 4 node cluster (8040) and then 2 nodes were decommed and rest 2 nodes were ,changed to AFF-A700
cabling and nic changes happened , it's been 2 years , we didn't face any issue, now we are upgrading the ontap, but we are facing a risk that the NIC Card is not compatible and the configuration is incorrect.
Can anyone help with configuration is incorrect and what will be the correct one, also if we continue with the same configuration, can we go for upgrade
on both nodes :
sysconfig: slot 2 OK: X91143A: Qlogic EP8324 Quad-Port 16Gb FC/10GbE PCIe CNA

In addition to the information already shared, you can check the proper compatibility and card order for that platform at the NetApp Hardware Universe: "Supported Adapter Cards - AFF A700 with ONTAP 9.7P22 Adapter Card Help Guide" section.
Please, keep attention to the "Priority" and "Priority Slot Assignment" columns, for each model of card you have, in order to place them properly.
Which ONTAP version are you planning to upgrade to ?
Currently we are at 9.5p17 and planning to upgrade to 9.7P22 in first hop
I checked the 'X91143A' CNA/UTA2 in https://hwu.netapp.com/, looks supported to me.
There is just one reference of this card wrt to a bug:(Engg is Unable to reproduce or diagnose this issue)
https://kb.netapp.com/onprem/ontap/hardware/FAS9000%2F%2FAFF-A700_PCI_NMI_panics_again_after_CNA_replacement
You should be fine to upgrade but in case you want to have this reviewed by support, just raise a ticket.
•The risk is being raised for using an x91143A adapter as cluster ports in slot 10
how can we move the cluster ports from slot 10 to slot 4 and 8
any doc or kb for this
I would suggest get in touch with your local NetApp Account Manager so that he can arrange to get this information sorted and provide any further guidance (I am assuming the systems are under support).
In the meantime, I am providing the links to following documents, please have a look.
