NetApp FAS and AFF systems read and write on behalf of clients in 4K blocks. Disks will use 512b, 520b or 4K blocks on the back end, but it is not reasonable to compare NetApp systems to conventional RAID systems. Any particular reason you would like to know?

Hello

The veeam backup is doing troubleshooting in the environment and asked how this configured the stripe size NetApp.

This is going into the way-back machine, but a lot of the basics are still valid 11 years later.   From the venerable Dave Hitz and Akshay Bhargava:

Section 5 on page 11 has explanations about WAFL...

In that case the response is that NetApp does not have configurable RAID stripe sizes, and for the purposes of troubleshooting, it can be considered to be the same as any other NetApp.

From a performance point of view, the next thing to look at is RAID group configuration- how many in the aggregate and of how many and what type of drives in each, and how full is the aggregate?
