Positions of SSD/HDD disks in FAS 2720 controller

Hello,

We just got our FAS 2720 and it came with 960 GB SSD and 10 TB HDD in the controller plus five shelves with 10 TB HDDs. The SSD drives seem to be positioned randomly in the head shelf. Is there a reason for this? Does the position of the SSD matter? In the past I placed the SSD of our FAS systems all to the first drive bays.

Best regards,

Bernd

That is correct positioning.  Disks are populated from the "outside -> in" from both ends.

"Add disks" documentation mentions this.

They should be in the chassis with that config. can you clarify which slots you mean by randomly?

The setup was this. Shelf ID 0 = controller.

That looks right, on the "ends" there.

Thanks. That must be something new. I don't remember this when I had to setup a Netapp some years ago.
