Hi All, I am installing a new NetApp FAS8300 system equipped with an DS212 shelf (12 x 12TB NL-SAS disks) and DS224 shelf (10 x 3.8TB SSDs). My question is how to connect these two disk shelves to the controller: should they be daisy-chained in a single stack, or do they require separate stacks/loops? If daisy-chaining is supported, which shelf should be positioned first (closest to the controller)? Additionally, I plan to use the DS212 shelf for the root aggregate disks. Ordered mini-SAS HD SAS optical cables for both shelves. Your help and inputs will be very valuable. Thanks and regards. Praveen.

Hello, I am a NetApp partner. I received an inquiry from a customer, so I would like to ask the community for advice. Is it possible to know the exact timing of when alerts are generated or cleared in system health subsystem show on NetApp? As shown below, for Subsystem: Environment, the Subsystem Refresh Interval is displayed as 10m, 10m, 10m: Subsystem: Environment Health: ok Initialization State: initialized Number of Outstanding Alerts: 0 Number of Suppressed Alerts: 0 Node: aff300-rtp-14a, aff300-rtp-14a, aff300-rtp-14b Subsystem Refresh Interval: 10m, 10m, 10m I believe there must be a difference between showing a single 10m and showing 10m, 10m, 10m. For example, if a PSU goes into a fault state and then returns to normal, it can take much longer than 10 minutes for the System health subsystem to reflect the recovered status. Does this mean that the system checks the state three times at 10-minute intervals before updating? To clarify my understanding, I created an algorithm flow diagram. I would appreciate any advice on this matter.

. Where is the disk ownership info saved? Is it save on the drives or in on the OnTap configuration? Typically we erase the drives in the expansion shelf using a 3rd party erasure program like Blancco or XErase and then run wipeconfig on the controllers. Is that good enough or will those drives retain the ownership info?????

Hello everyone, sorry to bother you. I have a FAS8040 storage device, and one of the controllers has a Primary firmware failure that requires repair. However, I do not have FAS8040 SP firmware and do not have permission to download it. I wonder if any friends can help share it. Any version that is the same or lower than 3.12 is acceptable. The English is too poor, the translation tool has been used to translate it. Thank you very much! I have some AFF800 with some X4013A that I pulled out and put in an expansion array and we have a NetApp NS224 with similar drives. We have to wipe them using one of our 3rd party erasure programs. One of the programs runs on Windows and the other program runs independently. I believe changed them back to unprotected using he boot menu option 9 and even tried some commands. I'm thinking the boot sectors might not be standard. Any other suggestions while I wait for the equipment to arrive so I can hands on would be greatly appreciated.
