disk ownership

. Where is the disk ownership info saved? Is it save on the drives or in on the OnTap configuration?  Typically we erase the drives in the expansion shelf using a 3rd party erasure program like Blancco or XErase and then run wipeconfig on the controllers. Is that good enough or will those drives retain the ownership info?????

Thanks, but is anyone knows where it is saved on the disk let me know. Our vendor said they might be able to erase so so you don't have to connect all the disks we get in to the controller and then wipe them using our third party software.

I believe that is considered NetApp Confidential information.

The ownership of a disk is stored within its RAID label in the disk, which contains configuration details such as the disk's association with a specific RAID array. When the wipeconfig command is executed, it clears this metadata from the RAID label, effectively removing any information about the disk's previous RAID configuration and ownership. This process is typically used to prepare the disk for reuse or reconfiguration in a different RAID setup.
