Hi experts,
I see this message in one of our filers:
Dropped 1 syslog message starting at <date and time> due to lack of internal log buffers
Is this a cause for concern? How can I address this?
Thanks,
Maico
Hi Maico,
I found the following bug that matches that message:
http://support.netapp.com/NOW/cgi-bin/bol?Type=Detail&Display=301011
I suggest opening a case with NetApp Global Support. When your issue is resolved, it would be great if you could share your solution with the community.
Regards,
Christine
Hi Christine,
Thanks for this information. I will take a look at it and will give an update on what I found out.
The ONTAP maximum file limits is lesser than the maximum possible number of files supported by ONTAP for a volume. This video explains the reason why ONTAP has this lower limit on the file count.
Here’s a quick tutorial on how to check system information on the NetApp Support Site.
Learn to correct an error message when ONTAP reports that a volume is out of inodes because it has reached the maximum files.
