we are going to have   FAS 6240,  which is the  lower end netapp system that we can use to simulate the firmware and OS update  before moving to production.

is it a best practise  to have a lower end cheap netapp  to test the  firmware and OS upgrades before applying it to the production netapp.

in scenario  of having  6240  dual head configuration   do we really need  to buy a lower end netapp  system ?
