Low Metadata Storage Alert

Hello

My grid shows "Low Metadata Storage" Minor Alert on 3 storage nodes,
Although the grid used capacity ~ 30%.
I am preparing Virtual Storage Nodes (ubuntu/docker) to resolve this issue, But I don't want to expand the grid capacity using this VM, Can I add a virtual storage node with only one volume (rangedb/0 to expand metadata storage) ?

Hey @iamsam

Did the alert only start triggering after you upgraded?

A couple of things to take a look at, depending on your StorageGrid setup, you can increase the size of the Metadata Reserved Space setting - https://docs.netapp.com/sgws-115/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.netapp.ndc.sgws-home%2FGUID-32E18269-7337-471B-8CD1-CDDFB6E6603C.html

Otherwise have a review of https://kb.netapp.com/Advice_and_Troubleshooting/Hybrid_Cloud_Infrastructure/StorageGRID/StorageGRID_reports_LowMetadataStorage_alert

You may need to speak to support so they can run some diagnostics.

Hope this helps point you in the right direction.

Hey @iamsam

Can you share with us what version of StorageGrid you have deployed?

There are some resolved software bugs in certain releases that contributed to higher metadata storage consumption and have since been resolved in newer patch releases of the StorageGrid software.
