Since I see you are in 7-mode you are out of inodes df -i the volume. Then use the max files command to change them maxfiles testvol putnumberhere read this https://kb.netapp.com/support/s/article/ka31A000000135pQAA/how-to-increase-the-maximum-number-of-volume-inodes-or-files?language=en_US

That's why I asked. That feature isn't supported until 8.2.x in 7-mode Your versions are VERY old. You should be thinking about upgrading and migrating

Ok, so let's see what's wrong with the last array... Give us some more detail. If the setting maps admin to root is set on the controller, just double check your account is there

First, if you are more a windows guy than a *nix guy, I tend to have vol0 set to ntfs, therefore it will understand user permissions easier. Also, check your builtin\administrators mapping to root. This is our default setting for our 7-mode systems options wafl.nt_admin_priv_map_to_root on

^^ agree SVM's with ipspaces would be the way to go, one for DMZ, and one for prod network. Don't mess with export policies to control acl's for cifs

Your question is slighly confusing to me. We do one SVM with a lif on each physical from the cluster So for example, SVM1, 2 HA pair would get 4 LIFS In my honest opinion, unless you are in a super secure corporate environment, govt regulated or a true multi-tenant ip filtering is a complete waste of time

The first thing you do is modify the raid group size and then add the drives. and you cannot undo so make sure you do it right the first time

Go into advanced or diag mode run this storage aggregate show -fields maxraidsize that will show you the size storage aggregate modify ? Follow the settings.

If i'm understanding this correctly, you can create any volume you want anywhere in your cluster and use it for anything you want. Just because the box is currently used as a destination, that's more a role than anything

So, let me explain how we do tape backup out of our OSSV. We have a script that creates a backup snapshot once a week, calling it backup.0. We then give the path to the volume in netbackup with backup.0 and backup that snapshot. so for example, the path would be \vol\ossv1\backup.0

First, you should look into the dynamic home directory feature. Second, your setup with a share like you presented looks ok. There is really no explanation unless something is configured wrong on your side

Sorry but this doesn't make sense to me Are you saying you enabled dynamic home drives, by enabling home-directory feature and enabling search paths? Thats the first thing i need to clear up. Based onw what you said, none of this should be an issue.

If you are not running a true multi-tenancy environment stay far away from ip spaces, especially in 7-mode. If the CIFs and NFS are on the same domain, and the same spindles, then what benefit are you getting out of splitting them out. The only reason to split them out is if you want to invoke a vfiler-dr on separate work loads. For example. App1 and app2, two different RPO's / RTO. with 7-mode, all volumes must go with vfiler-dr. Lastly, remember when you configure vfiler-dr, remember to change your snapmirror.conf file b/c they will all default to 0-59/3 * * * - that's every 3 minutes. That's just nuts. Also, i'm a huge fan of 7-mode, but i made the jump to cDOT recently, with 9.0, and you should start planning this for the future. 7-mode is end of engineering support at this time, plus for cifs no smb 3. Good luck.!

There is no way to do this. You can only go as far as 8.2.4 7-mode. There is no 7-mode to ontap 9. That's a refresh and upgrade of hardware
