Can you paste the output of dfm host diag ? to find if you have reduced any monitoring interval. Also can you guarntee(allocate) some memory to your VM instead of everything being dynamically being allocated. Regards adai

Hi Zach, Ops manager doesn't provide active management for Qtrees. Though provisioning manager does, does not allow edit only allows during creation. You can either use System Manager or use the NMC plugin for NFS export management or go with the cli. regards adai

Hi Modi, DFM use the hostprimaryaddress for snmp and API based monitoring. Where as when doing the VSM update it would initiate the appropriate commands with the hostpreferredAddr1&2. Per say dfm does not need connectivity to the hostpreferredAddr1&2, but your storage controllers( src and dst need to be able to communicate using the hostpreferredAddr1&2. set in dfm.) Hope this clarifies. Regards adai

You can create an alarm when an event is generated, As part of the alarm you can kick in a script. This script can be the one which goes to the filer and collects perfstat. In the below link there is a how to on the same. https://communities.netapp.com/people/fenton/blog/2011/02/22/diy-guide-to-integrating-perfstat-to-performance-advisor Incase of client stats the following events are generated. [root@ ~]# dfm eventtype list | grep -i clie cifs-per-client-stats-disabled Normal cifs.perclientstats cifs-per-client-stats-enabled Warning cifs.perclientstats nfs-per-client-stats-disabled Normal nfs.perclientstats nfs-per-client-stats-enabled Warning nfs.perclientstats [root@ ~]# Regards adai

Hi clinton, Let me explain the situation. Say i create a volume snapmirror between two filers f1 and f2.In order to make sure that the VSM update always succed and to avoid constant resizing of the vsm destination volume I create the volume to the size of the aggr. So if i have a source volume f1:v1 of 10g and aggr on filer f2: of size 100G. now in order to create a VSM destination volume on filer f2 i create a volume v2 of size 100G with guarntee set to none. Now, once the VSM baseline is completed. On the destination filer f2. df -h will give the size of f2:v2 as 10G( same as source) where as vol size v2 will give the size as 100G( the size to which it was created) so my question now is does running Get-NaVolSize will it reutrn 10g or 100G ? I am looking for the command that will list 100G and not 10G. Regards adai

Hi Hadrian, Automatic collection of client statistics is based on the values of the following global options: autoClientStatEnabled (default value No😞 specifies if automatic collection of client statistics is enabled. clientStatThresholdPeriod (default value 300😞 specifies the period, in seconds, over which the following thresholds should be evaluated. clientStatCifsLatency (default value 30😞 specifies the percentage increase in CIFS latency over the period. clientStatCpuThreshold (default value 80😞 specifies the absolute, last available, value of the cpu_busy counter. clientStatNfsLatency (default value 30😞 specifies the percentage increase in NFS latency over the period. This applies to both NFSv3 and NFSv4. clientStatTotalOpsRate (default value 30😞 specifies the percentage increase in total operations over the period. There are two sets of thresholds based on the above values: If both the total_ops threshold and the CPU busy threshold are breached, automatic collection of client statistics will be initiated. If the total_ops threshold and either of the NFS or CIFS latency thresholds are breached, then automatic collection of client statistics will be initiated. Regards adai

Hi Scott, Hope you are doing great.Pls find my response inline. Scott Swain wrote: Hey Adai, Here are a few things I think may be handy to have…. Direct link to the event in the alerting email This is already there. Scott Swain wrote: Hey Adai, Here are a few things I think may be handy to have…. Direct link to the event in the alerting email Ability to acknowledge the alert from the alerting email The ability to create custom email alert templates that can be applied based on per alert/event basis…. this way we can have specific emails sent to specific email addresses with info that pertains to what they need, not just a generic message… If we had the ability to identify a primary Group for a filer/vfiler, we could then set the alerting email to display that primary group. If Group naming reflects the role of the filer it will make it easier for non-storage admins to identify the use of the filer i.e. Incident Coordinators) There is likely a few more ‘nice to have’s’ but, that all I got off the top of my head atm. Thanks, Scott The other things I shall pass them on to product managers. Regards adai
