I know the current version of SnapManager for SQL supports VMware RDMs for the database and transaction log LUNs (as opposed to using the Microsoft iSCSI Initiator inside the Guest OS), but how about SnapManager for Exchange? If not, does anyone know when this will be supported?
If SnapDrive in the guest can "see" those disks as being NetApp LUNs then SnapManager for Exchange will accept them. What we don't support is VMDKs presented as LUNs to the guest where they arrived at the host over NFS. Microsoft will not support for that for Exchange (SQL is a different case) so we can't use that configuration scenario.
Excellent to hear. So, since we are using SnapDrive 6.3P2, which shows the RDMs, we are good to go from a NetApp support standpoint to switch from using the MS iSCSI Initiator inside the VM to using RDMs via VMware ESX?
