Dear All,
I need to enable compression on my new NetApp AFF-A250A. I have the below query.
1. what is the best practice for compression.
2. what is the compression ratio we will get with different workloads (VDI, Etc)? or do we need to specify manual value?
3. will existing data get compressed or not? ( if I move data from the existing datastore to netapp datastore?

by default compression is already in use on AFF platforms. REF: https://docs.netapp.com/us-en/ontap/volumes/deduplication-data-compression-efficiency-concept.html
compression ratio really does depend on the data it is working with, AFF platforms work with Adaptive compression REF .
With in-line compression, the data is compressed before it is written to disk, so existing data is relative to where the data is located in this case. once it is transferred to the AFF platform, it should already be compressed.

it's old but have good information still valid
you do not specify any value for this operation
