How to specify options for SnapMirror relationship created by protection policy ?

Hi,

OCUM 5.1

To avoid networking issues we need to enforce options like kbs=100000,wsize=60000 on ocum SnapMirror relationships (as we do on manually created relationships).

There are no such options available when configuring protection policy from any gui.

Manual modification of snapmirror.conf file seems working fine. However, it is necessary to abort then initialize initial transfer to load the configuration.

Therefore, sometimes ocum does not react as expected and create a new relationship with a new destination volume.

Is there a way to set SnapMirror relationships options from ocum ?

Hi Alain,

There is no way in OCUM to see all this options. But it does allow you to set the kbs/throttle at the dataset level. Another way to achieve this is by having snapmirror.conf entires

for all this realtionsihp as follows with schedule set to none( so filer doenst run the scheudle instead they are run by Protection Manager)

srcfiler:srcvolume dstfiler:dstvolume kbs=100000,wsize=60000 - - - - -

PS: All these options will be preserved only for VSM relationships. Also the hostprefferredAddr1 or 2 should not be set in case of the source and destination filer.

In case of QSM they will be deleted due to known bug 608634 which is fixed in the upcoming release 5.2 which is around the corner.

Hi Adai,

The bug may explain strange behavior we encountered with QSM relationships.

Where is it possible to set the kbs/throttle for a dataset ? I cannot find this option from gui.

Is it possible to set wsize in the same way ?

As the bug on QSM is a blocking point for our project :

  • is it possible to know the expected release date for version 5.2 ?
  • is it possible to participate to beta test program ?

Many thanks
