OnCommand System Manager 2.1 Not Available

Hi,

When going to the NetApp Support site to download OnCommand System Manager for Windows I noticed the following versions are available:

First Customer Shipment Releases

  • OnCommand System Manager 2.0.1
  • OnCommand System Manager 2.0.2

Release Candidate

  • OnCommand System Manager 2.2RC1

The question is, what happened to OnCommand System Manager 2.1? Is there a major bug with this version that means it is recommended to NOT use it?

Thanks,

Jonathon

Hi Jonathon,

System Manager 2.2RC1 replaced System Manager 2.1 on the now site. System Manager 2.2RC1 is an update to System Manager 2.1 and has bug fixes and enhancements over v2.1

System Manager 2.1 has been archived. You can still download it from the downloads page. You need to go to the end of the page and select "OnCommand  System Manager" from 'To access specific version' drop down.

It is recommended to use the latest System Manager version ( in this case v2.2RC1 ) as it will have improvements over the previous version.

Just to clarify, there is no major bug in v2.1.

Karthik

Thank you Karthik!

So there is no need to be concerned that a First Customer Shipment Release (2.1) has been replaced with a Release Candidate (2.2RC1)? Or did 2.1 never make it to First Customer Release?

Jonathon

There is no reason to be concerned about the replacement. Also starting from v2.2 the release model will be RC-GA (Release Candidate- General Availability) release model similar to Data ONTAP.

So any RC release will automatically qualify as a candidate for GA and will be marked GA after certain number of weeks ( There is more to it than just the timeline to qualify an RC release as GA)

Karthik
