Hello,
we have the following setup:
Primary Storage with Exchange SMEX
Secondary Storage with DFM / OnCommand for Archiving Backups.
SnapManager for Microsoft Exchange |
|
SnapDrive |
|
OnCommand Unified Manager |
|
Ontap 8.1.2
When we make a scheduled Backup with SMEX we use "-ArchiveBackup -ArchivedBackupRetention 'Daily'"
It was working fine for months. Since we made a few changes in the Dataset. SnapVault Relations and some Volumes have changed... We imported the new SnapVault relations and the backup works find for ONE day.
Since that we have the following errors in the SMEX Log:
[22:26:30.750] [RZ1-MBX01] Starting Dataset backup version list...
[22:27:31.824] [RZ1-MBX01] [DataSet Exception]: Exception of type 'SDWServiceProxy.SmResult' was thrown.
[22:27:31.824] [RZ1-MBX01] Unable to get backup list from dataset.
[22:39:12.218] [RZ1-MBX01] WARNING: Skipping backup list using dataset, backup may not get deleted. Please ensure Protection Manager is functional correctly.
[22:39:12.218] [RZ1-MBX01] WARNING: Skipping backup list using dataset, backup may not get deleted. Please ensure Protection Manager is functional correctly.
[23:26:04.008] [RZ1-MBX01] Backup of storage groups/databases successfully completed.
[23:26:04.008] [RZ1-MBX01] However, archiving the backup to secondary storage failed.
The normal Backup is working. Only Archiving to Nearstore is not working. See errors above.
Any Ideas how to Debug and Handle this ?
Thanks,
Best,
Martin
Of what you posted I would guess moving the volumes is the cause.
Did you move the primary volumes? If those were moved, did you rerun the SME configuration wizard afterwards? SME is keeping track of what it added to the dataset and requests specific updates to those relationships. It is not requesting updates to the primary node of the dataset, so having working relationships within the application dataset will not get integration backups if SME is requesting protection of different sources.
As long as the SnapVault relationships work manually and the source matches with what SME is expecting/requesting they should be fine.
we only moved some volumes on the secondary storage. not primary. so we did not rerun config wizard. seems not necessary.
also the backup was running after that 1 time...

=> snapVaulta manually are working ! but the problem still exists...
any ideas about that error ?

Have you rerun SME configuration wizard since you made the changes?
What errors do you see in PM other than lag errors?
Only Lag Error / Conformance is green... Ressource also normal
