Question about Active IQ Unified Manager Version: 9.14
Does anyone have an idea on how we might go about creating a notification on these two events:
 wafl.vol.autoSize.done
 wafl.vol.autoSize.fail
We use auto grow throughout our environment and are reliant on getting notified each time a volume grows so that we can manage our volume autosize settings to make sure that volumes can continue to grow.

Hi @Rudi1 ,

The documentation on how to create a notification for events within ActiveIQ Unified Manager is here https://kb.netapp.com/data-mgmt/AIQUM/AIQUM_Kbs/How_to_manage_alerts_for_Active_IQ_Unified_Manager

Regarding your question:

  1. wafl.vol.autoSize.fail: This is a ERROR level Event Severity, with the Matching Event name "WAFL Volume AutoSize Failed".  You should be able to use the link above and create a "Error" level Event Severity alarm matching the event "WAFL Volume AutoSize Failed", which is straight forward.
  2. wafl.vol.autoSize.done:  This is an INFORMATIONAL Event Severity and AFAIK you cannot create alerts in ActiveIQ Unified Manager for INFORMATIONAL level event severity.

Hi @Rudi1 , I have alerted on the .done one for several years now. Here are the steps.

  1. In AIUM, click Storage ManagementAlert Setup.
  2. Create a new alert or edit an existing one, and click the Events tab.
  3. Under Event Severity click Warning.
  4. Scroll down to find Notice EMS Received and click the chevron to add this event to the alert.
  5. Fill out any other relevant settings in the alert and save it.
  6. Click Storage ManagementEvent Setup.
  7. Click the Subscribe to EMS Events link in the top right corner.
  8. In EMS Event Name, type wafl.vol.autoSize.done. Add a Description if desired and click Add.
  9. Click Save and Close.
  10. Reopen and you should see Yes next to the wafl.vol.autoSize.done entry you created.

@chamfer by the way, I had thought the same about it being an INFO level event, but for whatever reason, AIUM puts it in the Warning category so it can be alerted on, despite it being an INFO event.
