Snapshots history and specific alarms for objects

Hello,

One of my customer is running a MetroCluster, and he's having some questions, which I haven't find answers yet.

- Is it possible to get the history of snapshots with their sizes for a specific volume or aggregate?

- Can we setup an alarm different than the threshold for a specific volume?

Did you try the snapshot reports ? Can you give me some example of what you are looking for ? So that I can tell you if that is possible with OCUM or not.

- Can we setup an alarm different than the threshold for a specific volume?

By alarm you mean alarm for the snapshot usaage ? If so yes we already have one.

[root@vmlnx ~]# dfm options list | grep -i volsnap

volSnapshotCountThreshold             250

volSnapshotFullThreshold              90

volSnapshotTooOldThreshold            52 weeks

[root@vmlnx ~]# dfm eventtype list | grep -i df.snapshot.kbytes

snapshot-full                                 Warning      df.snapshot.kbytes

snapshot-space-ok                             Normal       df.snapshot.kbytes

[root@vmlnx ~]# dfm eventtype list | grep -i old-snap

snapshots:not-too-old                         Normal       old-snaps

I haven't try the snapshot reports, I'm going to have a look on this.

Regarding the alarms, I'm looking for space usage specific for volumes.

Because the percentage is not always valuable for volumes or aggregate for different sizes (from GB to TB).

Hi Jean-Christophe,

            Yup pretty much, but it was warm when I landed and became hot when I was about to leave.  I did try Fondue and liked it.

BTW though you can set different percentage value for each volumes snapshot usage, but unfortunately its still percentage.

Also the percentage is of the SnapReserve and not the full volume capacity.
